The 2025 HITS Del Mar National Horse Show launched a thrilling season of top sport at the beautiful HITS Del Mar Horse Park. A highlight of the week, the $80,000 Grand Prix of Del Mar presented by Core Specialty Insurance, saw Nick Gegen (USA) and his standout partner One Question rise to the occasion with a commanding win.

Out of a competitive 36-horse field, only three advanced to the jump-off, where Gegen blazed through the timers in 44.686 seconds to claim victory. “He’s honest and loves his job,” said Gegen of the 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by Neaulani Farms. “I just try to stay out of his way and let him do what he does best. He won a class here on the grass last year, and he really seems to enjoy this venue.”
Melody Liu (USA) and Napoleon van den Dael finished a close second, followed by Canada’s Ali Ramsay aboard Conrado 12 in third. Earlier in the week, Kyle King topped the $5,000 Power & Speed with Bynamic’s Conthaloubet, setting the tone for an exciting lineup of competition.
Just minutes from the action, beautiful homes and equestrian estates near Del Mar Horse Park offer the perfect retreat for horse lovers and coastal lifestyle seekers alike—blending luxury living with one of the sport’s most iconic backdrops.
